This is an in-game cutscene. There are 23 such events in Tortured Hearts.

These usually happen when you first enter a place and stumble upon important persons.

Shopping in the Yellow Mug Saloon which is a dirty place situated in the yard of the Vynblud Castle. Items with the red splash cannot be used by the selected character. Basic item restrictions are: sex, race, alignment and also, there is a so-called item difficulty. Item properties stack which means: you find a belt that gives you Type1 STR 1 and you combine it with a Type1 STR 1 helm, the result is still 1. If you find a helm (or other accessories) with Type 2 STR 2, then your strength bonus is 3 (1+2). The basic rule: different types stack. Penalties too, so if you have an ailment that lowers your agility by 1 (Type6) and you have a ring with +1 Type3 Agility and a potion gives you a buff of +2 Type8 AGI, then the result is +2 (the ailment and the ring neutralize each other). The possible types count from 0 to 20.
